Empowerment for Success
The Crossing Into Independence Program is designed to guide foster care and disadvantage youth in grades 9 through 12, or foster care participants aged 21, and under who are nearing the stage of independent living, to develop a successful career strategy. The program empowers them to take charge of their future and thrive in their independence.

By learning basic core leadership skills, resume writing, effective communication and designing SMART goals using competencies to improve their current knowledge, skills and abilities.
Our Mission/ Program Objectives:
At Crossing Into Independence, we are committed to guiding foster care youth towards independence by providing them with the necessary tools, mentorship, and support to build a successful future.
Our program is designed to empower participants to overcome challenges, set meaningful SMART goals, and realize their potential. Participants will design and execute a working resume and a networking system to build relationships and cultivate better communications at all levels.
We believe in creating a nurturing environment that fosters growth and resilience.
PROGRAM ELIGIBILTY:
The program is accepting foster care and disadvantage youth at the 9 through 12, grade level. The program also accepts individuals that are near the independent living stages 21, and under that live in the Maryland and Washington, DC area.

Visualizing Your Life!
Participants will be 100% involved in their own learning! Real life scenarios, case studies, individual and group presentations, sharing knowledge and best practices, are just a glimpse of the learning styles used in the delivery of this program. Learning opportunities will be maximized!
Program Cycle:
This program spans four months with participants convening twice a month for an hour-and-a half sessions, accommodating a maximum of 15 attendees per session. It is mandatory for participants to bring their own laptop or tablet for optimal engagement. Throughout the program, each participant will devise a personalized goal plan aimed at achieving optimal success upon program completion. Participants may be eligible to receive a $100 gift card upon successful completion, subject to fund availability. Additionally, support acquiring interview clothing will be provided based on fund availability; in cases where funds are limited, alternative sources will be recommended.
Tuition for the program is the responsibility of the participants or guardian.
All training will be held in Maryland or Washington, DC area either at designated group homes or in a professional meeting space.

Our program offers personalized guidance in developing effective career strategies, including resume building, interview preparation, and goal setting.
Life Skills Training
Participants have the opportunity to acquire essential life skills such as, time management, and communication skills to thrive in their independent journey.
Mentorship and Support
We provide mentorship and ongoing support to help participants navigate challenges, access resources, and stay motivated on their path to independence. for 1year after completing the program
Community Engagement
Our program encourages community involvement and networking opportunities to broaden participants' horizons and connect them with valuable resources.
